http://www.legis.state.tx.us/
House Bill No. 2781 is requiring a change in procedure regarding water conservation initiatives and rainwater harvesting. It passed on May 22nd of 2013. The idea is that all on-site reclaimed system technologies fit under new specifications, and be implemented under appropriate and specified circumstances. Henceforth, all state buildings with a roof measuring at least 10,000 square feet will employ rainwater harvesting.
In addition, privately owned rainwater collection devices with a capacity of 500 gallons and above must be equipped with a backflow prevention assembly or an air gap installed. Private persons also must give written notice to the municipality where the collection system is/will be located if they have the intention of using the public water supply system as an auxiliary source. The public water supply system, when used as an auxiliary source, must be connected only to the water storage tank and not to structural plumbing.
