Texas Lobbyist News: Governor Perry Names Hecht as Chief Justice of Texas Supreme Court
On September 10th of 2013, Governor Rick Perry officially appointed a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Justice Nathan L. Hecht was chosen for the position. Hecht’s term will begin on October 1st of 2013, and will last until the next general election. Justice Hecht will be serving as the 17th Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court. Justice Hecht was first chosen as a member of the Supreme Court in 1988, and has been re-elected four times. He has plenty of experience coupled with a good track record.
“I am proud to appoint Justice Hecht as chief justice of the highest court in the state,” Gov. Perry said. “I know Justice Hecht to be a man of the most upstanding character and integrity, with an uncompromising commitment to protecting the interests of the citizens of Texas”
