House Bill 178 was filed in November of 2012, and it currently pending in committee. The bill is about the importance of water conservation. If passed, it would amend the Tax Code and provide a sales tax exemption to the sale of a specified “WaterSense” product that has been designated under the “WaterSense” program under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The bill encourages the public to purchase and use items that will decrease water waste. If the bill gets enough votes it will be enacted on July 1st 2013. If not, on October 1st 2013.
